| The Academic Index (described very well in Michelle Hernandez’s book A is for Admission) is an index that Ivy League schools use to level set college admission application profiles for athletes applying to the Ivy League. This index focuses almost exclusively on academic performance and can be a directional indicator of college chances for parents, students, and college counselors. The AI is often a starting point and other “subjective” components are added after to determine strength of a college admission application.
