6 Keys to a successful article

One of the keys to building links and readers is to engage readers. To engage your readers you need to get them to continue to read your articles and hopefully look forward to the next article.

Here are 6 simple tips to help you get your readers to keep reading.  

1 - Set a word goal for your writings. It is simple to just keep writing on the same subject and having a long drawn out article. Limit your word count. You'll find that you are writing much more efficiently.

2 - Keep your writing simple. There is no need to over analyze or get too technical in your writings. Follow the K.I.S.S. rule.

3 - Tell the reader the purpose of your article in the opening sentence. Most people will read the article and maybe the first sentence to decide if they want to continue. . . .grab them quick.

4 - Teach your readers. The main reason for writing articles is to inform and teach your readers. Don't get stuck on hyping your business or attempting the hard sale. Don't try to overload your story with too many links to your or your products. Be helpful to your readers. Try to answer the questions that your readers may have on the subject.  

5 - Don't forget the closing paragraph in your article. Make sure you wrap up the conversation. Don't just simply stop writing because you can't think of anything else. Summarize the article for the reader.

6 - Have a Call to Action. Once the reader is done with the article you need to make sure you have directed them what to do next.

Here are a few examples: • Give the reader an idea of what they should do next. -Try looking through your website and ensure you don't have any broken links leading to nowhere. • Ask your readers a question that makes them think about their next step. -Where are your customers coming from?

These are my 6 article writing tips. Writing articles isn't always easy when you first start. I remember taking over two hours to write my first article. If you just keep writing it gets easier. You learn your own voice and writing style. These simple steps can help you along the way.
